About Us

Welcome to Petite Affair - where everything is exclusively made for women who are 5'3 or under. From a size 6 through to a size 16, we believe that petite means height, not just small sizes, so if you struggle to find the right fit on the high street, we'd like to think we'll be able to help.

First of all, a little bit of trivia. We thought we'd share with you a list of celebrity names who also 'measure up' to be under 5'3...

  • Reese Witherspoon - 5'2
  • Eva Longoria - 5'2
  • Natalie Portman - 5'3
  • Jada Pinkett Smith - 5'0
  • Christina Aguilera - 5'1
  • Hayden Panettiere - 5'1
  • Lady GaGa - 5'1
  • America Ferrera - 5'1
  • Paula Abdul - 5'2
  • Rachel Bilson - 5'1
  • Kim Kardashian - 5'2
  • Kylie Minogue - 5'0

Tell us your favourite petite celeb, and we can add them to our list..! We're sure there are plenty more...

If you struggle to dress for your shape, the following top tips might be of help to you and fellow petites...

  • It is possible to create the illusion of height with colour! If we choose an outfit, say Navy, and wear dark Navy fitted jeans, with a similar coloured top, keep the hem on the jeans as long as you can, and wear dark shoes (with a heel), you will look taller. By not breaking the flow of the colour and theme of your outfit, you are making yourself look taller. Try it in a mirror perhaps and take a look..?
  • When considering necklines, a 'V' or 'U' shape neckline will also create the illusion of height. Whilst a high neckline is good (especially if you have a smaller bust), generally petite's suit a neckline that shows a bit of skin, to help elongate the neck and create height.
  • Keep clothes fitted - not tight, but just nicely fitted to your shape. Baggy or ill-fitting clothes will make you look bulkier and in turn, smaller.
  • Interestingly, the shoulders on a petite woman can really help her look well dresses and proportioned. When you are trying clothes on, try and take notice where the shoulder seam is sitting - is it on your shoulder? It should be on the natural curve - if it is sitting on your arm or looks like it has slipped, the garment is too wide for you, and will not help you look taller.
  • Another area to look at with the shape and cut of a dress or tunic - is an 'empire' line seems to really sit well on a petite frame. The empire is where it is cut to sit just under the bust, rather than the waist - then falls naturally to the hem. This also flatters many shapes and avoids the dreaded middle bits!
    •
  • For accessories, if you like to wear a belt, opt for a nice thin belt - heavy or wide belts can simply cut you in half, disturbing the flow of your lines and make you look smaller. Also remember the 'colour' rule, and try to keep the theme of your outfit together.
  • Floaty long scarves are also a great accessory - let them hang vertically and create those essential long lines in front of your body.
  • Shoes - well, it's obvious to say wear heels, right? The higher the heel, the taller you will look and the longer and slimmer your legs (like it or not, this is just the way it goes!) - if you aren't a big fan of high heels, then a wedge can give just the same fantastic effect, but sooo much more confortable to wear.
  • Finally our last tip to consider - your hair! It has been suggested if you want to work your whole body, then look at your hair style - ! Create height and volume towards the top of your head with clips or back combing and watch the results. Not so sure about this tip, but it may work for you, worth a try for sure...
